The NDFTA was formed in 1956, from an amalgamation of five former Trade Associations.

They were :
The London Dried Fruits Trade Association
The Liverpool Dried Fruit Trade Association
The Bristol & South Wales Dried Fruit Trade association
The Scottish Dried Fruits & Canned Food Association
The UK independent Dried Fruits Trade Association

The Chairmen of the organization, have always been members of the Dried Fruits trade, who have given their time voluntarily, to promote the interests of dried fruits in the UK.
